Founded in 1937, Plan International is one of the world’s oldest and largest children´s development organizations. Plans main aim is to promote child rights and help to lift millions of children out of poverty by addressing issues such as gender inequality, the essential need for education and child inclusion and participation in society.

Plan’s success in development programs is due to them staying true to their cause and keeping the children in the heart of everything they do. It is a unique organization that works with children, their families, communities, partner organizations and local governments. In all aspects, Plan highlights the importance of children and adults working together as a part of the solution for a sustainable change process in all communities.

Promoting the rights and interests of the world’s children, Plan has a special focus on girls’ rights to overcome issues of gender discrimination and to help promote inclusion.
Plan recognizes that millions of girls are denied their basic human rights, simply because they are girls.

Many years of experience has shown that ending the cycle of poverty can take place when girls are valued.
