LET'S TALK DENIM!

How is your relationship with denim?
As from early years, denim has been like second skin to me. I remember my bleached ripped denim from childhood years with grass stains all over it. I really could not have enough jeans. The versatility makes my denims a go-to piece in 90% of situations. No questions asked.

Do you remember your first denim moment?
Being a tomboy I have had my dose of ripped bleached jeans, I remember especially one had that 90’s mum cut over them and the knees were pre-ripped with this really cool urban/graffiti patches underneath. I wore those jeans to their death and beyond.

How does your ultimate denim outfit look like?
This is an easy one: denim head to toe. A cool daily uniform consists of a traditional blue washed denim shirt and high waist jeans. And for those late-nighters and parties: a denim one piece with cool heels.

Do you have any style icons you look up to for denim inspiration?
I adore Charlotte Gainsbourg or Jane Birkin, those are the gals that can sport any type of denim.

Which jeans model did you choose and why?
My choice fell on a skinny leg high waist model called Higher. Basically, a pair with my name on it for several reasons. First of all it has that amazing 70’s cool rock/chic edge. Secondly, the wash is this really nice mix of classic and light blue which is spot on for summer. Third, the hips and the bum look amazing in them!

If you were to chose out one specific denim piece: what and how would you style it?
A part from jeans, I love denim skirts; they are equally easy and chic to wear. My favorite styling would be with a soft knitted t-shirt, preferably in camel shade and pointy toe ballerinas.

Do you have any go-to pieces?
Leather jacket, skinny jeans, a striped shirt and cool pointy flats. It is a no brainer in any given situation.

With years [my] style has been more refined and can now be described as a minimalistic and clean twist on rock chic and the 70's.

What are you looking for in a pair of jeans?
First of all they have to feel comfortable, like a second skin, I am not a fan of clothes that put limits on what you do. Secondly, it is important how they fit, especially over the bum and hips; I am slightly pear-shaped so I have to be careful on how jeans fit in that area. Third, they have to have something extra.

ON FASHION AND LIFE

What inspires you when you are putting together an outfit?
It is important for me to be comfortable regardless the situation and what I am wearing, so I think that what I wear really depends on my mood that day. Simultaneously all of my outfits are on point, I rarely just just throw something on, you can laugh but I have been working on a coherent wardrobe for a long time, so it is not very difficult to take out couple of things that match perfectly.

What would you say your signature style is?
From early on my love toward rock music has been influencing my style. The leather jacket, skinny jeans. With years, that style has been more refined and can now be described as a minimalistic and clean twist on rock-chic and 70’s.

How has your personal style evolved over the last years?
It has become more put-together and precise with years. When you are younger, it is so fantastic to be able to experiment, to play with all those different influences and inputs, but growing up you take choices that define you as a person and thus the style.

What is your solution when you are having a clothing crisis?
A golden rule less is more, because the more you panic the worse solutions get. Worst-case scenario is white shirt, high waist jeans & easy black pumps. Weather i end up with a blazer over or a leather jacket depends on the situation at the end.
