Meet Ida

Tell me a bit about yourself
My name is Ida Helene, I am 28 years old and live in Oslo with my boyfriend. I work full time as a DJ, where I play both alone and in the duo Q&I, with Sabrina (QLEO) Garder.

What makes you proud of yourself?
I am proud that I have succeeded so well in a very challenging and uncertain industry. Three years ago I had never thought I could play music for a living, so I am very proud that I have made a living out of something that I really love.

What is the greatest challenge you are facing?
Right now, the biggest challenge is running my own business. There is a lot to keep track of for one person, and can at times be a little overwhelming. Being my own boss is very liberating though, so I'm very grateful for that too.

What are you strengths?
I am very hardworking and ambitious, while being good at enjoying life, taking it easy and just being in the moment. Balance is everything!

What motivates you?
I'm motivated by all the nice and talented people around me. I am also motivated by seeing others lift each other up and take care of each other. I am never afraid of getting competition, because there is room for us all to do well.

When you were 14, what did you want to do with your life?
When I was 14 I wanted to be a professional handball player! It was my big dream. I focused on handball for many years, and trained up to 12 times a week. But I injured my back when I was 18, and had to give up on my dream.

What do you wish you knew back then, that you know now?
I wish I knew I did not have to take everything so seriously. I was extremely keen to perform at my peak in all aspects and spent far too much time worrying about what others were thinking of me. Now I only do my very best in all situations, and it is good enough, even though it is not always perfect.

What pressure do you feel below - if any?
I can often get a little stressed before a gig. The more people who come to listen to me, the more nervous I get. I was playing for thousands of people in Oslo a few weeks ago, and did not exactly get much sleep the week before! But I get nervous in a good way, it keeps me on my toes.

Who / what is your style inspiration?
I don't have a special person I'm inspired by, but I find my inspiration from my surroundings, by my friends and random people on the street. I am especially inspired when I am traveling. I was just in Milan and I fell in love with the style of both the ladies and the men there! The best thing I know is to sit down in a cozy café and just observe people passing by.

Your best party go-to styling tip?
For me, the most important thing is to wear something comfortable, which still looks smashing. I always take a "sit, walk and dance check" in my outfit before I go out the door. Can I sit in my outfit without any discomforts, walk in my shoes without pain and dance in my dress without having to pull it down all the time, I know that I can enjoy myself all night without thinking about the outfit. Besides that, glitter and even more glitter is my top favorite.

Your 3 favorite items from Bik Bok SS19 - and how would you style them
The halo body is my top favorite! It is so simple and classy and you can wear it with everything! I would style it with some fine high waist wide leg pants and some statement jewelry.

I also love the Zebra pants. They are very comfortable, which is most important to me, and I like that they have wide legs that flutter a bit as you walk. I would style it with The Halo Body and some chunky sneakers.

The Miriam dress is my third favorite from the collection. It's perfect for a hot summer day! You can wear it in the park or on the beach during the day, with some white sandals and some simple jewelry, then replace the sandals with heels in the evening and go straight to the party!
