Winner of Bik Bok Runway Award 2018

Bik Bok Runway Award rounded off this seasons Oslo Runway yesterday. Five designers showcased their collections for the Norwegian fashion industry and the winner jury announced HAiKw/ as winners of this years BBRA.

The jury’s statement:

“This years winner designed a collection with a clear and genuine vision and their playfulness created a very own community. Their study in choosing materials and their eagerness to explore technological directions shows an admirable openness, as well as breathing new life and respecting historical precedents that is beneficial for the fashion industry growing in Norway. This openness includes apprentices, artists, and writers participating in their distinctive and optimistic view of the world. BIK BOK is proud to award HAiKw/ as winners of BBRA.“

It was a great competition and the other participants were exceptional. We are looking forward to work with Bik Bok and create new things.

HAiKw/ approaches fashion through a collaborative practice, and is characterized by making cutting points between abstract art and usable fashion. Emphasis is put on creating custom developed prints and woven fabrics specific for each project. HAiKw/ is run by designer Harald Lunde Helgesen, and fellow designer at KHIO, Ida Falck Øien.

HAiKw/ will get production of their full collection financed, a mentor and a money prize of 100.000 NOK earmarked production of a new collection or ordering goods for sale.

The other nominees this year was Bror August, Merilin Kolk, O-F-C and Søster Studio.
The previous winners are Anne Karine Thorbjørnsen (2016) and Michael Olestad (2017).
